As the pressures of climate change on global food systems continue to intensify, the need for innovative methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches to implement, evaluate, and scale climate-smart agriculture has become increasingly critical. Agricultural science and sustainable practice stand at the forefront of this transformation, offering new pathways for strengthening resilience and enhancing productivity in diverse farming systems. Meanwhile, the adoption of climate-smart agricultural strategies presents both unprecedented opportunities for sustainable intensification and significant challenges in ensuring smallholder livelihoods, preserving biodiversity, and maintaining long-term ecological integrity.
This special issue aims to explore the intersection of climate-smart agriculture, resilience, biodiversity conservation, and smallholder welfare. It seeks to highlight cutting-edge research, technological innovations, and policy frameworks that enhance the design, implementation, and equitable governance of climate-resilient farming systems. Topics of interest include:
• Climate-adaptive crop and livestock production systems
• Agroecological and biodiversity-based approaches for resilient agriculture
• Smallholder livelihood security and inclusive agricultural transformation
• The evolving role of local knowledge and participatory innovation in climate adaptation
• Ethical considerations and trade-offs in climate-smart intensification

• Comparative studies on climate-smart practices across agroecological zones and regions

We welcome original research articles, case studies, and reviews that contribute to advancing the dialogue and practice in this dynamic and evolving field.
Manuscript Submission Information
Authors should submit their manuscripts for the special issue by emailing them as an attachment to specialissue@hillpublish.com or by using the online submission system. The manuscript should be submitted by one of the authors, and submissions by anyone other than the authors will not be accepted. Additionally, the submitted manuscript should include a cover letter that specifies the special issue to which the manuscript is being submitted.
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published previously, nor be under consideration for publication elsewhere (except conference proceedings papers). The submitted papers should be properly formatted and written in fluent English. All manuscripts are thoroughly refereed through a double-blind peer-review process.
