Abstract

With the rapid iteration of digital technology and the continuous maturity of deep learning algorithms, artificial intelligence translation has become an indispensable auxiliary tool in modern translation industries. Government document translation, as a highly rigorous and standardized branch of political translation, undertakes the important task of international public communication and national cultural external dissemination. High-quality translation of official texts helps accurately convey national policies, governance concepts, and cultural values, and builds a reliable international image for the country. In recent years, AI translation has been widely used in batch processing of government documents due to its advantages of high speed, low cost, and large-scale text processing capability. It effectively makes up for the low efficiency of traditional manual translation and greatly accelerates the release and international communication of official documents. However, government documents feature rigorous logic, standardized wording, unique political terminology, and rich cultural metaphors. Different from general commercial and daily translation texts, political discourse carries strong ideological attributes, cultural connotations, and rhetorical aesthetics. Restricted by existing algorithmic mechanisms and corpus training limitations, current AI translation systems still face prominent deficiencies in semantic accuracy, cultural connotation transmission, and stylistic aesthetic restoration. Based on functional equivalence theory and eco-translatology, this paper systematically explores the practical application value of AI translation in government document translation, analyzes typical problems such as semantic deviation, cultural information loss, and rigid expression, and summarizes the internal causes of machine translation errors. On this basis, some specific optimization strategies based on human-machine collaboration are proposed to improve the overall quality of political text translation. The study aims to provide a practical reference for the intelligent development of government document translation and the improvement of international communication effectiveness of Chinese official discourse.
