Abstract
As a vital bridge for cross-cultural culinary exchanges, the English translation of Chinese dish names must accurately convey basic dish information and enable the cross-linguistic transfer of cultural connotations. Based on the cross-cultural communication theory, this paper constructs a three-dimensional analytical framework covering “semantic approximation, cultural dissemination and aesthetic adaptation”. It systematically explores prominent problems existing in translation practices, including semantic distortion, cultural discontinuity, and aesthetic misalignment. On this basis, it proposes a diversified and collaborative translation model centered on “literal translation + metadescription”, providing theoretical support and practical reference for the international promotion of Chinese cuisine.
