Abstract
Transportation English translation programs commonly suffer from a disconnect among language skills, disciplinary knowledge, and professional practice. Using industry–education integration as a framework and the Translation and Interpreting program at East China Jiaotong University as a case, this study designs an application-oriented training system built around two mechanisms: an academic–career dual-tutor model and student-selected specializations. The system advances along three lines. For teaching, it separates academic tutors, who handle language and academic supervision, from career tutors, who focus on professional development and industry practice, and pairs each specializa-tion with modular courses, priority internships, and a virtual simulation platform. For assessment, it introduces joint school–enterprise evaluation, fixes enterprise input at 30%-50% of project grades, combines process and comprehensive measures, and lets a translation portfolio stand in for the conventional thesis. For support, it calls for dedicated funding and institutional reform. The resulting framework offers a practical model for foreign language programs at industry-focused universities.
