Abstract

Traditional ideological and political education (IPE) within Integrated English courses is plagued by four prominent structural dilemmas. To address the dilemmas of disjointed teaching objectives, unbalanced teaching materials, insufficient stratified teaching, and ineffective evaluation in traditional ideological and political teaching of Integrated English courses, and implement the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education in universities, this study constructs a “three-dimensional, four-stage, dual-empowerment” AI-empowered ideological and political teaching design model based on the theories of all-staff, whole-process, and all-round education, production-oriented approach (POA), and technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK). Taking sophomores of English majors as empirical research subjects, this study builds a human-computer collaborative closed loop through unit teaching cases, realizing the dual empowerment of AI technological efficiency improvement and teacher-led value cultivation. Practical results indicate that the proposed model effectively integrates language skill training with ideological and political education, and improves students’ cross-cultural critical thinking and expressive ability of Chinese discourse. Targeting the inherent limitations of generative AI, including value deviation, emotional deficiency, and ethical risks, this study puts forward optimization strategies covering model calibration, teacher training, and ethical standardization, providing a replicable practical paradigm for the digital and intelligent ideological and political teaching of foreign language courses.
