Abstract

With the in-depth advancement of the educational digitalization strategy and the widespread application of Generative AI, secondary school English teachers are faced with brand-new opportunities and challenges in the process of digital transformation, while encountering multiple practical challenges, including the innovation of teaching models, the transformation of educational approaches, and the appropriate adaptation to technology. As the core link connecting technology and teaching, teachers’ digital literacy directly determines the depth of integration between information technology and English teaching, as well as the effectiveness of educational practice. Equipped with unique advantages such as intelligent content generation, real-time interactive communication, integrated resource integration, and dynamic process assessment, Generative AI can effec-tively drive a profound transformation of secondary school English instruction toward personalization, contextualization, and competency-oriented learning. Meanwhile, Generative AI can also provide a technological path and practical platform for the all-round improvement of teachers’ digital literacy, offering practical guidance and theoretical support to help secondary school English teachers in the new era proactively adapt to the pedagogical changes in the digital age, optimize their teaching practices, and steadily improve the quality of instruction.
