Abstract

With the spread of positive psychology around the world, English teacher resilience has become a hot topic in teacher psychology. This study employs a systematic review method to retrieve and screen a total of 37 papers published between 2005 and 2025 across the Web of Science and the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), providing a critical synthesis of the existing literature from three dimensions: theoretical perspectives, research themes, and research methods. The analysis reveals several key findings: (1) most current research lacks a solid theoretical foundation or clear framework; (2) the topics for study are relatively concentrated, and there is a significant lack of topical breadth; (3) Although the means of research have continuously improved, defi-ciencies still exist in the representativeness of teacher groups from all walks of life and in the variety of research tools and the development of specialized measurement instruments. Based on these findings, future research directions are proposed: (1) integrating interdisciplinary theoretical frameworks; (2) Expand the scope of research by concentrating on the context of artificial intelligence mediation, key psychological variables, multidimensionality and dynamism of burnout, and alleviation mechanisms; (3) broadening teacher background profiles, emphasizing mixed-methods and qualitative approaches, and developing context-specific scales.
