Abstract

In the setting of newly-emerging artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and the national focus on international communication capabilities, English majors in application-oriented universities encounter the double challenge of acquiring technical proficiency and maintaining humanistic profundity. This research, based on three funded initiatives, examines an integration approach that strikes a balance between technology and humanity by merging classic reading, AI litera-cy, and international communication proficiency. Based on a review of the literature, an analysis of the curriculum, and a case examination carried out at a provincial application-focused university, this article puts forward a specific ap-proach composed of four interrelated aspects: value-centered classic reading units, AI literacy cultivation through a language intelligence practice base, OBE-propelled international communication assignments, and course-based ide-ological and political education (CIPE) all the way through. The results indicate that the incorporation not only enhances students language competence and cross-cultural storytelling ability, but also cultivates critical thinking and ethical consciousness in the utilization of AI. This route offers a reproducible model for curriculum transformation in comparable institutions.
