Abstract
The German functionalist translation theory emphasizes the purpose and function of the target text, advocating a top-down exploration of translation issues from the pragmatic level. In response to certain problems currently observed in education of political philosophy within translation courses, this paper, based on functionalist theory, explores the development of "implicit" political and philosophic guidelines in teaching and assignments. It addresses education of political philosophy at the discourse level, the integration of political and philosophic elements with translation techniques, and the inclusion of ideological and political factors in the evaluation of translation outcomes. By doing so, translation courses can not only impart knowledge but also enhance students' political and philosophic awareness.
