Abstract
The writing quality of the contracts and formal documents in English letters for international engineering management, as core tools, is directly related to communication efficiency, risk control and even project success. This article analyzes the structure, major formats, text types and linguistic features of these letters according to Text Typology, while discussing typical writing mistakes and related countermeasures. Served as a crucial tool for contract management, the letters follow typical structure and three basic layouts. Linguistically, they are characterized by excessive professional terminology and abbreviation, frequent use of the modal verb “shall”, objective, formal expression, and short, balanced sentence structures. In addition, this article points out the common mistakes in international engineering management letters writing and puts forward optimization suggestions based on Text Typology. It seeks to help engineering managers write more accurate and effective letters, thereby promoting the development of engineering practices in other countries while also providing reference for future related research.
