Abstract

This thesis aims to deeply analyze the differences between English and Chinese languages and cultures, and explore feasible translation strategies to improve the quality and effectiveness of English-Chinese translation. By selecting diverse language materials such as literary works, business documents, idioms, scientific texts, and daily communication, the study systematically combs the differences between English and Chinese languages and cultures from the dimensions of lexical semantics, syntactic structure, and cultural connotations through comparative analysis. It is found that English and Chinese significantly differ in lexical composition, grammatical rules, and the linguistic representation of cultural values. In response to these differences, the thesis discusses the application scenarios and practical key points of translation strategies such as annotation, transformation, idiomatic translation. The study shows that only by accurately grasping the linguistic and cultural differences between English and Chinese and flexibly using appropriate translation strategies can translation barriers be effectively eliminated to achieve accurate and natural crosslingual and cultural communi-cation, which is of great significance for both translation practice and theoretical development.
