Bibliometric Analysis and Prospects of Research on Integration of Artificial Intelligence and International Chinese Language Education

Abstract

Against the backdrop of global educational digital transformation, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and international Chinese language education has become a key driver for the discipline’s high-quality development. This study conducts a bibliometric analysis of 123 core journal papers retrieved from the China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) with a full-time search strategy (the first paper published in 2021), using CiteSpace 6.4.R1 for visual analysis of annual publication output, high-frequency keywords, core research institutions, and cooperation networks. Results show the field has experienced a slow start, rapid growth, and steady advancement, with an overall upward publication trend. “Artificial intelligence” is the core keyword with the highest frequency and centrality, and research hotspots focus on digitalization, teaching resource development, intelligent education, and disciplinary construction. Core institutions are dominated by key universities with strengths in international Chinese language education, while inter-institutional cooperation remains loose. Research themes concentrate on AI-empowered teaching resources, intelligent learning systems, teachers’ AI acceptance, and digital-intelligent transformation. Based on existing problems, targeted future research directions are proposed to promote the deep integration of AI and international Chinese language education.
