Abstract
Nordic designers advocate the design principle of "simplicity is beauty". Nordic furniture is renowned for its characteristics of simplicity, practicality, and environmental friendliness, with a focus on pragmatism and eco-friendliness. The green design concept of sustainable development is the essence of Nordic furniture design. By expounding the concepts of functionalism and green design, this paper summarizes the basic characteristics of Nordic furniture design in the 20th century, and combines specific cases of Nordic furniture design to analyze the specific manifestations of functionalist thinking and green design concepts in Nordic furniture design. Furthermore, it reveals that the integration of functionalism and green design in Nordic furniture can not only meet consumers' pursuit of a high-quality, healthy, and eco-friendly life, but also provide valuable experience and enlightenment for the sustainable development of the global furniture design industry.
