Abstract

This study proposes an innovative framework integrating digital gene decoding and transmedia communication to address the preservation and revitalization challenges of Shanghe Drum Yangko, a valuable Chinese intangible cultural heritage. Through field surveys and digital humanities techniques such as motion capture, image semantic analysis, and knowledge graph construction, the research dissects the art form’s explicit cultural genes, including action, visual, and auditory elements, as well as implicit ones encompassing historical, regional, social, aesthetic, and ritual connotations, to construct a structured four-layer digital repository. Grounded in media convergence theory, it designs and analyzes targeted transmedia narrative strategies across diverse platforms ranging from short videos and documentaries to VR/AR technologies and social media. The study ultimately outlines a sustainable transmission path of digital preservation, creative transformation, cross-media narrative, and industry empowerment, which links cultural communication to rural cultural tourism and IP co-branding, aiming to provide both theoretical and practical solutions for the heritage’s living inheritance while offering a replicable model for the digital revitalization of similar rural intangible cultural heritage worldwide.
