Abstract
The porcelain pillows produced by the kiln of Cizhou are various in types, refined in style and exquisite in workmanship. They are abundant in history and unique in craftsmanship. Culture’s special terms related to the porcelain pillows are condensed form of deep-rooted cultural implication of porcelain pillows. So accurate translation is very important to the promotional effect of cultural exchange and dissemination. This paper, starting from the porcelain pillows made by the kiln of Cizhou, based on illustrative case studies, exploring context-specific translation strategies, such as free translation with annotations and lexical translation, dis-cussing their respective applicability. The primary aim is to try to find the translation method that accurately convey the cultural implication of the source text accurately, second to align with the reader’s cognitive habits in the target language. From both aims, cultural difference barrier is reduced. Ultimately, this paper tries to promote international spread and exchange of the porcelain pillow culture of kiln of Cizhou. At the same time, we intend to provide helpful reference materials and information for the translation of specialized terms in traditional culture. The wider purpose is to disseminate its culture among the global audience.
