Abstract
The English translation of political discourse is a strategic link in the external construction and dissemination of national image, as well as an important means to enhance international discourse power and soft power. Based on a systematic perspective of national image construction and dissemination, and combined with typical translation examples from the English translation of Position Paper of the People’s Republic of China for The Summit of the Future and the 79th Session of The United Nations General Assembly, this paper analyzes the translation strategies adopted in key areas such as peace, development, civilization, governance, and technology. The research shows that the English translation of political discourse not only serves information transmission but also functions as a cross-cultural discursive practice, helping to construct a true, comprehensive, and credible image of China in the international public opinion arena. This research provides pathways for building China’s external discourse system and disseminating the national image in the new era, thereby promoting Sino-foreign exchanges.
