Streamlining Translation Quality Management through Human-centered AI: A PDCA-based Analytical Framework

Abstract

This paper presents an analytical framework grounded in the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle, a fundamental principle of Total Quality Management (TQM), to explore the integration of HCAI in translation quality management. In the Plan phase, a detailed translation plan is devised based on client-provided guidelines, specifying the use of HCAI. The Do phase applies Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology for text processing, Microsoft’s Copilot for terminology extraction, and YiCAT for machine translation post-editing (MTPE) and quality monitoring, with real-time updates to term bank and translation memory. AI search engines and large language models assist text comprehension. The Check phase emphasizes terminology management, GPT-assisted quantitative quality assess-ment and formatting. The final Act phase involves standardizing best practices through Tmxmall, integrating client feedback, and continuously improving the process. By reviewing a real-world translation project, the framework’s effec-tiveness is validated, and potential avenues for future optimization in the integration of HCAI are proposed.
