Abstract

Problem-based teaching (PBT), an inquiry-oriented instructional approach, is grounded in students’ psychological mechanisms of problem-solving and cognitive development. Facilitating students in resolving their issues in Chinese-English translation is beneficial for the cultivation of their critical thinking, independent judgment, and translation proficiency. This research explored the application of the strategy of contrastive analysis (SCA) within the framework of PBT for Chi-nese-English translation and yielded the following outcomes: 1) The majority of students’ Chinese-English translation difficulties could be addressed through the utilization of SCA; 2) As a result of problem resolution, students achieved significant advancements in Chinese-English translation competence; 3) The application of SCA holds considerable pedagogical significance in the context of English as a foreign language (EFL).
