Construction and Practical Study of Perioperative Nursing Pathway for Vagus Nerve Electrical Stimulation in the Treatment of Refractory Epilepsy Patients

Abstract

Objective To explore and analyze the construction and practical research of perioperative nursing pathway for vagus nerve electrical stimulation in the treatment of refractory epilepsy patients. Methods Sixty patients who were hospital-ized in the neurosurgery department of our hospital from October 2021 to September 2023 and were diagnosed with refractory epilepsy through physical examinations, EEG and CT scans, and underwent vagus nerve electrical stimulation surgery in our department were randomly divided into two groups, numbered ac-cording to the order of admission. The single number was the routine group, and the double number was the control group, with 30 patients in each group. The routine group received routine perioperative care, while the control group received intervention using the constructed perioperative care pathway model, and the final results were compared and analyzed. Results The control group had a higher frequency of epileptic seizures at various time periods in patients (P<0.05). The final satisfaction level was higher in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion For patients with refractory epilepsy who receive vagus nerve electrical stimulation surgery, providing intervention guidance by constructing a perioperative nursing pathway can effectively reduce the frequency of seizures in patients.
