Abstract

Objective: To analyze the effect of combined gel caries removal and fluoride foam on masticatory function and oral health. Methods: From January 2024 to August 2024, 40 hospitalized children were enrolled and divided into a study group and a control group. The control group received fluorinated foam, while the study group received gel caries removal combined with fluoride foam. Chewing function and oral health were compared between the two groups. Results: The study group showed significantly better outcomes than the control group (P < 0.05). There were no significant differences in Plaque Index (PLI) and Gingival Index (GI) scores between the two groups before treatment (P > 0.05); however, after two months of treatment, the PLI and GI scores in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The combination of gel caries removal and fluorinated foam can improve masticatory function and oral health.
