Abstract
As a core driving force in shaping China’s new development paradigm of opening-up, educational internationalization finds its key vehicle in international student education. This process is deeply intertwined with national strategic transformation. The phased characteristics of international student education in China primarily manifest in four aspects: continuous expansion and optimization of source structures, gradual elevation of academic qualifications, diversified professional configurations, and scholarships becoming pivotal leverage for attracting high-caliber talents. However, the service trade of international student education remains in deficit, educational structures require optimization, and quality assurance systems need further refinement. To enhance the appeal of China’s international student education brand, we should: 1) Improve strategic planning through policy-level design; 2) Optimize structural frameworks by prioritizing international standardization; and 3) Strengthen internal and external quality assurance systems rooted in educational excellence. These measures are to chart a clear roadmap for high-quality development of international student education in the new era.
