Abstract

Guided by the aesthetic selection of words in aesthetic linguistics, this study focuses on the differences in vocabulary aesthetics between the introductory texts of Chinese and American national parks by comparing the official introductions of Yellowstone National Park (USA) and Wuyi Mountain National Park (China) and further summarizes the English translation strategies for Chinese four-character phrases. Through Python-based analysis and comparison of the official introductory texts of Yellowstone National Park and Wuyi Mountain National Park, the researcher concludes that the text of Yellowstone National Park is centered on “scientific and rational beauty,” with vocabulary predominantly consisting of professional terms in geology, ecology, etc., and forms mostly nominalized structures. In contrast, the text of Wuyi Mountain National Park is oriented toward “cultural and perceptual beauty,” with vocabulary mainly com-posed of four-character phrases. Therefore, based on the three-dimensional analysis of “cognitive accuracy, cultural adaptability, and perceptual experience,” three translation strategies are proposed: integration of coordinate structures into noun phrases, dynamic-static conversion of subject-predicate structures, and imagery refinement of attributive-head structures.
