A Study on the Narrative Nature of TV Dance Programs: Taking Henan Satellite TV’s “Dance for a Thousand Years” as an Example

Abstract
In the context of media convergence and the revival of traditional culture, television dance programs break through the single form of “stage recording”, and narrative becomes the core link to balance artistic expression and cultural dissemination. This paper takes Henan Satellite TV’s “Dance for a Thousand Years” as the research object, combines narratology, communication ritual view, and cultural memory theory, focuses on the two dimensions of narrative context reconstruction of “integration of play and dance” and narrative structure of “coordination of ritual and music”, and analyzes its narrative innovation logic. The study found that “Dance for a Thousand Years” breaks the limitations of classical dance’s physical narrative through “cinematic narrative framework + multi-thread synergy”, endows dance narrative with cultural inheritance attributes through “media ritual construction + contemporary translation of ritual and music”, and forms a value chain of “artistic aesthetics - emotional resonance - cul-tural identity”. This innovation not only solves the problem of popularizing classical dance but also provides a model for television art programs to achieve “dialogue between tradition and modernity”. Research shows that the narrative of television dance programs should be based on “dance as the foundation, culture as the soul, and medium as the wings”, completing the contemporary translation of traditional culture in a balance of multiple elements.
