Abstract
The progressive implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) has created unprecedented opportunities for advancing the internationalization of Liuzhou, a key industrial hub in Guangxi. In this context, the demand for high-quality and localized language services has grown markedly, placing more stringent and targeted requirements on the cultivation of language service professionals in applied undergraduate institutions. Grounded in the practical imperatives of Liuzhou’s economic and social development, this study investigates the challenges these institutions encounter in nurturing localized language service talents, with particular attention to educational philosophy, curriculum design, faculty development, and the integration of industry and education. Taking one of Liuzhou’s applied undergraduate universities as the subject, the research proposes a localized “RCEP + language service” talent cultivation model that is closely aligned with the city’s industrial configuration. Specifically, the study advances systematic strategies for pathway innovation across six dimen-sions: institutional positioning, curriculum system restructuring, pedagogical re-form, interdisciplinary faculty development, the strengthening of collaborative industry–education platforms, and the incorporation of innovation and entrepreneurship education. The findings aim to provide both theoretical insight and practical guidance for applied undergraduate universities in Liuzhou, as well as comparable cities, to foster high-level language service professionals capable of meeting the developmental demands of local economies within the RCEP framework.
