The Effect of Probiotics Combined with New Tze Huang in the Treatment of Periodontal Disease on Inflammation and Injury Index of Gingival Sulicular Fluid

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of probiotics combined with New Tze Huang tablet on the inflammation and injury index of the gingival crevicular fluid. Methods: Thirty-six patients with periodontal disease were enrolled in the study from March 2023 to March 2024. Patients were divided into a control group (18 patients, receiving the new Tze Huang tablet + basic treatment) and an experimental group (18 patients, receiving probiotics + New Tze Huang tablet + basic treatment). Compare periodontal status [bleeding index (SBI), periodontal pocket depth (PD), attachment loss (AL)], oral pathogenic bacteria [Porphyromonas gingivalis (Pg), Actinobacteria (Aa), Prevotella (Pi), Fusobacteria (Fn)], gingival crevicular inflammation [interleukin-6 (IL-6), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)], and injury index [nuclear factor κ B receptor activating factor ligand (RANKL)/osteoprotegerin (OPG)]. Results: After the treatment, the detection rate of SBI, PD, AL, IL-6, TNF-α, RANKL/OPG, Pg, Aa, Pi, and Fn decreased in both groups, and the experimental group was lower than that of the control group (P <0.05). Conclusion: The treatment of periodontal disease combined with New Tze Huang tablet can improve the periodontal state, control the oral pathogenic bacteria, and reduce the inflammation and injury index of the gingival groove fluid.
