Abstract
As an emerging field in international interpreting research, Embodied-Cognitive Interpreting Studies (ECIS) has become a new trend in interpreting studies and is now developing rapidly in China. In his book Embodied-Cognitive Interpreting Studies, Professor Kang Zhifeng systematically elaborates on the theory of Embodied-Cognitive Interpreting Studies from an interdisciplinary perspective with a dialectical unity of experience and cognition. He introduces his ECIS theory by using an interdisciplinary research method, integrating interpreting studies and cognitive psychology to gain a deeper insight and make a theoretical construction of the theory. In his book, Professor Kang makes a systematic construction of the ECIS theory, conducts in-depth interpreting research, and provides an insightful perspective on interpreting synergism. He also further clarifies the unified construction of the practice-teaching-research model, which can be of great importance for interpreting practice, teaching, and research. By bridging the gap between cognition and interpreting behaviors, Professor Kang achieves further developments in cognitive interpreting studies with his new book.
