Abstract
In today’s society, the tide of globalization is surging, and the countries around the world are deeply caught up in numerous fields, such as the economy, culture, and science and technology. Under this condition, as a linguistic procedure, translation shoulders the important missions to communicate ideas, convey information, and promote understanding. This paper systematically sorts out the existing translation principles through literature review, discussion, and other methods. Based on the “scene integration” proposed by Liang Pengcheng, the “scene customization” principle is formed, namely the CATER translation principle (C, conciseness; A, accurateness; T, timeliness; E, enculturation; R, rationality). Based on the deficiencies of existing literature and in combination with contemporary emerging industries, this article enriches the scenarios where translation principles can be applied. The author will focus on analyzing the consistency between the CATER principle and the two major scenarios of Dong Yuhui’s online live stream and Protruding-eye Brother’s offline tour of China. By comparing the positive and negative examples of the CATER principle, its significance will be highlighted, aiming to provide reference translation strategies for related majors and promote communication among people of different languages.
