The Application Effect of Thermal Moxibustion Combined with Acupoint Massage in the Nursing Care of Lumbar Disc Herniation with Low Back and Leg Pain

Abstract
Objective: This study aims to explore the application effects of heat-sensitive moxibustion combined with acupoint massage in the nursing care of patients with lumbar disc herniation and lower back pain. Methods: Patients were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group. The observation group received treatment with heat-sensitive moxibustion combined with acupoint massage, while the control group received conventional treatment. The overall treatment effectiveness was evaluated by comparing VAS scores, JOA scores, and lumbar flexion-extension angles at different time points, as well as left and right flexion angles of the lumbar spine, among other indicators of lumbar activity function. Results: The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was 94.12%, significantly higher than the 70.59% in the control group (P < 0.05). After 3 days and 7 days of treatment, the VAS scores and JOA scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.01), indicating a more significant reduction in pain and improvement in quality of life. The lumbar flexion-extension angles, left and right flexion angles in the observation group were all significantly higher than those in the control group after treatment (P < 0.01). This suggests that heat-sensitive moxibustion combined with acupoint massage can significantly improve lumbar activity function in patients with lumbar disc herniation. Conclusion: Heat-sensitive moxibustion combined with acupoint massage can significantly improve pain symptoms and enhance quality of life in patients with lumbar disc herniation and lower back pain, increasing the treatment effectiveness rate of tested patients and helping to improve lumbar activity function. It is worth further promotion and application in clinical practice.
