Value and Key Points of Ultrasound in the Diagnosis of Plasma Cell Mastitis

Abstract
Objective: Analyze the value and key points of ultrasound for the diagnosis of plasma cell mastitis. Methods: 100 patients (admitted from 2021.01 to 2024.06) with suspected plasma cell mastitis were included as study samples. All patients underwent ultrasound examination and histopathological examination. Taking histopathological examination as the "gold standard" for diagnosis, the diagnostic accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, positive predictive value, negative predictive value, and the coincidence rate of diagnostic plasma cell mastitis type were analyzed. Results: After pathological examination, a total of 57 patients were positive and 43 patients were negative. By ultrasound examination, a total of 61 patients were inflammatory and 39 patients were negative. When plasma cell mastitis was diagnosed by ultrasound, the diagnostic accuracy, specificity, sensitivity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value were 88.00%, 66.04%, 92.98%, 86.89%, and 89.74%. The coincidence rates of ultrasound diagnosis of simple ductal dilated plasmacytic mastitis, cyst plasmacytic mastitis, and mass plasmacytic mastitis were 87.50%, 96.43%, and 92.31%, respectively. Conclusion: In the clinical examination of plasmocell mastitis, ultrasound can be used as a preliminary screening method.
