Abstract
Chinese calligraphy, with its unparalleled artistic expression and profound cultural symbolism, stands as a cornerstone of global art and a pivotal medium for intercultural dialogue. Despite its historical significance, its international dissemination faces multifaceted challenges, including linguistic barriers, fragmented outreach, and the abstract nature of its philosophical underpinnings. This study, grounded in empathic communication theory, proposes an innovative framework to enhance its global resonance by prioritizing emotional connectivity and cognitive alignment. Empathic communication, structured through three dimensions—emotional contagion, perspective-taking, and empathic concern—serves as the theoretical backbone. By respecting cultural differences, contextualizing calligraphy narratives within diverse cultural frameworks, enhancing international audiences’ engagement and comprehension, leveraging multimedia to showcase its dynamic charm, and fostering interactive experiences and cross-cultural edu-cational activities, this approach aims to cultivate emotional resonance and achieve the dual objectives of cultural identity and global dissemination. As the practical achievements of empathic communication theory become increasingly evident in international practices, its application offers innovative pathways for the global spread of Chinese calligraphy, positioning it as a pioneering force in cultural exchange.
