Abstract

In the context of global aging, the incidence of osteoporosis in the elderly population is increasing, and it has become a major threat to the health and quality of life of the elderly. The disease is characterized by a significant loss of bone mass, microstructural deterioration, and increased bone fragility, which makes the patient vulnerable to fractures, especially in the hip, spine, and wrist. These fractures not only cause severe physical pain but also lead to prolonged bedriddenness, which significantly reduces the patient's ability to take care of himself or herself. Worse still, they may increase the risk of death. Therefore, it is of profound significance to strengthen the exploration of clinical diagnostic methods and drug treatment strategies for osteoporosis in the elderly and to develop safer and more efficient therapeutic pathways in order to improve the quality of life of elderly patients and to alleviate the healthcare burden of society.
