Abstract
This study investigates the influence of the sacred atmosphere in Buddhist temples on the functionality and user experience of assistive navigation devices for visually impaired individuals. Drawing an empirical case at Moya Monastery reveals a striking improvement in navigation accuracy, rising from 60% under normal conditions to 99% during chanting sessions. This highlights the profound role of religious rituals in enhancing spatial perception, emotional well-being, and user confidence. Concepts such as "place attachment" and "therapeutic landscapes" are employed to elucidate the cognitive and emotional support derived from the sacred environment, which facilitates an intuitive interaction between users and technology. The findings challenge conventional technology-centric paradigms, emphasizing the importance of culturally and contextually integrated designs. Recommendations include developing context-aware features inspired by sacred environments, fostering collaborations with cultural experts to embed meaningful elements into device functionality, and enabling customizable settings to enhance usability, adaptability, and user satisfaction. By bridging spirituality and innovation, this research contributes to the broader discourse on inclusive, human-centered technological design.
