Investigating Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching (VSET) Potential as a Virtual Platform for Chinese EFL Learners to Enhance English Language Competency

Abstract

With the advancement and innovation of learning technologies such as 3D virtual worlds, language teaching has embraced new opportunities. Learning English as a foreign language, like many other languages, is a challenging task for both teachers and students. The virtual simulation experimental teaching platform, as a global virtual platform, offers strong support for English language learning and teaching through its immersive and interactive environment. Through its interactive interface, students can experience and simulate daily situations in a simulated virtual world, allowing for more authentic and practical language practice, thereby deepening their understanding of the target culture, knowledge structures, and language learning. This paper focuses on the advantages and application of using the virtual simulation experimental teaching platform as an educational tool to promote blended learning in Chinese EFL university English classrooms. Specifically, it reviews the potential of the virtual simulation experimental teaching platform in virtual learning and the resources it provides for English as a foreign language learning. It explores how it stimulates learners’ interest and provides an engaging target language learning experience, and further examines its motivating factors in educational research and its significant teaching potential.
