Abstract

Ocean waves are a rich source of energy. This ocean energy can be converted into useful electrical energy using a generator. Linear generators have attracted great attention in energy harvesting technology due to their unique ability to convert energy without the need for any intermediate converter. The main objective of this study is to introduce the various types of linear generators studied so far for direct drive ocean wave energy conversion and describe the working principle of each type and their differences. After a brief description of the basic generator, the various types of generators are reviewed and discussed based on the design configuration of different types of magnet arrangements [1].
