Abstract

Under the background of the national “Going Global” strategy, Chinese railway transportation companies are actively expanding into overseas markets. The English translation of railway safety management regulations becomes particularly crucial. Although machine translation is increasingly widely used, there are also some problems in the translation of safety management regulations, such as unclear terminology, semantic misjudgment, and improper handling of long sentences. These problems can lead to misunderstandings and potential safety risks, which ultimately affect the safety and efficiency of railway operations. By analyzing the “Jiangxi Provincial Railway Safety Management Regulations” as a case study and utilizing the DeepL translation engine, this study identifies and classifies machine translation errors and puts forward some effective countermeasures in post-editing. It aims to enhance translation quality in the railway sector, provide strong support for the sustainable development of Chinese railways in the international market, and contribute to the enhancement of global railway safety standards.
