Abstract

In recent years, as educational reform continues to advance, the focus on developing core competencies has emerged as a key objective in education. High school chemistry, as an essential subject, plays a significant role in enhancing students' scientific literacy and hands-on skills. However, traditional methods used in chemistry teaching often fall short of nurturing core competencies, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical application. This calls for an urgent transformation and innovation in chemistry teaching practices. This study investigates the challenges that high school chemistry teachers face under the requirements of core competencies and examines how the integration of these competencies can influence and improve chemistry education. Furthermore, the paper proposes specific transformative strategies, including reshaping educational philosophies, diversifying teaching methods, and reinforcing post-class practice. Through these changes, we aim to build a robust theoretical basis and practical framework to support and guide effective reforms in high school chemistry education, ultimately enhancing students' comprehensive skills and preparing them for future scientific challenges.
