Abstract

Based on the theory of production-oriented approach (POA), a blended learning model has been established and implemented among English majors at applied universities, utilizing the "one body and two wings" online teaching platform and primarily focusing on the semi-flipped classroom approach. This integrated learning model aims to strengthen students' English application capabilities, cross-cultural communication skills, critical thinking, self-efficacy, autonomous learning, and cooperative abilities, as well as their humanistic and interdisciplinary literacy. It emphasizes language-plus-task design, practice, application, and adheres to the integration of language, humanities, morality, and interdisciplinary education. A one-year experiment conducted on the Comprehensive English course has demonstrated that this model is highly recognized by students and positively contributes to enhancing their overall literacy. Moreover, it shows potential in improving students' English learning to a certain extent. However, to determine if this model can significantly boost students' English performance, a longer period and more comprehensive empirical studies are necessary.
