Abstract

In an era marked by rapid globalization and digital transformation, the dissemination of Yunnan's material culture narratives confronts both novel opportunities and significant challenges. Digital technologies have redefined not only the mechanisms of cultural storytelling but also the conceptualization of cultural identity and the strategies for heritage preservation. This paper investigates the role of digital platforms in broadening the global reach of Yunnan's material culture, critically assessing the implications for cultural complexity, authenticity, and the preservation of local identity. While these platforms introduce new pathways for the global diffusion of regional cultures, they simultaneously provoke concerns regarding cultural homogenization and the commodification of cultural expressions. At the heart of this study is an exploration of how Yunnan's material culture stories can navigate the tension between the forces of globalization and the imperatives of cultural diversity and autonomy. The analysis offers a critical framework for understanding the evolving dynamics between cultural representation, identity, and the digital landscape.
