Research on the Independent English Learning Strategy Under the Background of “Internet +”

Abstract
With the rapid development and application of modern network technology in the field of education, more and more national high-quality online courses, network resources, and teaching platforms are constantly innovating. They have become essential tools for teaching in the context of modern information technology. Especially after the emergence of COVID-19, universities have extensively utilized online resources to enhance teaching quality based on their unique professional characteristics and teaching methods. This learning and communication mode, under the backdrop of the Internet, has increasingly become the primary method for modern college students to engage in independent study. Through an investigation of the study habits of art students majoring in the past two years, it was found that while most students show high enthusiasm and interest in online learning, the effectiveness of independent learning is not satisfactory. Internet background, university English teaching is facing new development opportunities and challenges. This paper is based on the Internet background of college students' English learning characteristics. It combines the main problems of college students' English learning and proposes targeted strategies to improve their English learning. By leveraging the opportunities presented by the Internet, this paper aims to enhance college students' English learning abilities and provide innovative ideas.
