Analyzing the Thought of Aesthetic Education in Wang Guowei’s on the Purpose of Education

Abstract
On the Purpose of Education is an article written by Wang Guowei in the magazine Education World in 1903, reflecting Wang Guowei's educational philosophy. A review of the relevant literature reveals that the majority of studies emerged after the 1980s. One of the earliest monographs on Wang Guowei's educational thought is Zhao Qinglin's Trial Discussion of Wang Guowei's Educational Thought in 1984. Standing at the intersection of history and reality, the article summarizes the characteristics of Wang Guowei's educational philosophy. It provides a detailed analysis of the principles of national education and the concept of aesthetic education put forth by Wang Guowei. It advocates that the academic community should acknowledge and focus on the remarkable contributions made by Wang Guowei in the field of education so that an increasing number of individuals start to delve into the study of Wang Guowei's aesthetic education ideology. This chapter analyzes Wang Guowei's educational thought from both Chinese and Western perspectives.
