A Study on the Guiding Role of Applied Linguistics in Foreign Language Translation Practice

Abstract
With the acceleration of globalization, the demand for foreign language translation is increasing. As an interdisciplinary field, applied linguistics offers rich theoretical guidance and practical strategies for foreign language translation practice. Applied linguistics focuses on the use of language in practical contexts, emphasizing the practicality of language knowledge and skills. In foreign language translation practice, translators need to apply knowledge of applied linguistics, understand the differences between different languages and cultures, and be familiar with various translation strategies and techniques in order to achieve accurate and natural translation effects. In the actual translation process, translators need to apply the theories of applied linguistics to analyze the language characteristics and meanings of the original text. They should also consider the expression methods of the target language to achieve high-quality translation. This article aims to further explore the specific application and guiding role of applied linguistics in foreign language translation practice. It also discusses future development trends and challenges to deepen the understanding of the relationship between applied linguistics and translation practice.
