Abstract

TikTok, a short video platform from China, is becoming increasingly popular on the international stage. But with that, TikTok has faced increasing controversy. Despite many countries imposing restrictions on TikTok, the platform continues to expand globally. This article compares and analyzes the disparities in TikTok's terms of service between the US and the UK to explore the factors that contribute to TikTok's globalization efforts. The most notable differences between TikTok's terms of service in the two countries are related to privacy protection, display of illegal content, age restrictions, and clarity of terms. Combined with TikTok's experience in both countries, this article argues that the varying laws and TikTok's interactions in each country have contributed to the differences in the terms of service. This article suggests that TikTok's management strategies in various countries have contributed to its ability to adapt to different environments and gain popularity globally.
