Abstract
This study utilizes data from the China Statistical Yearbook as the sample to construct correlation analysis and curve regression models for various consumption expenditures of Chinese rural residents. By utilizing the trend extrapolation prediction method in SPSS 24.0, data concerning rural residents' consumption expenditures in China from 2015 to 2021 were selected to analyze the proportion of each consumption category among China's rural residents. The results show a strong correlation between education, culture, and recreation expenditures and food, liquor, and tobacco expenditures, as well as between clothing expenditures and health care expenditures. The model predicts the per capita food consumption expenditure of rural households in China using curve regression and trend extrapolation. It forecasts China's rural residents' consumption expenditures for food, liquor, and tobacco from 2022 to 2026. The suggestion that the consumption of rural residents in China accounts for a large proportion of basic subsistence consumption expenditures and has a single consumption structure has been made.
