Abstract

This study aims to compare the clinical application of the paper disk method and the Baird Parker plate method in the quantitative detection of Staphylococcus aureus in food. These two methods were used to quantitatively detect Staphylococcus aureus in 6 food samples, and the results were statistically analyzed. The research results showed that the detection rate of Staphylococcus aureus using the paper method was 31.67%, while the detection rate of the Baird Parker plate method was 20.42%. There is a significant difference in detection rates between the two methods, and this difference is statistically significant (P<0.05). Although the detection rate of the Baird Parker plate method is relatively low, the paper method, as a simple and highly valuable method for promotion, still has certain advantages. It should be noted that the detection cost of the paper method is relatively high, which may be a limiting factor it faces in practical applications. However, considering its simplicity of operation and high detection rate, the paper method is still a feasible choice, especially in some resource-limited environments. In addition, the research results provide valuable references for food safety monitoring of Staphylococcus aureus. However, further research is needed to validate the applicability of these methods in a wider range of food samples and to compare their differences with other commonly used methods. In addition, it is necessary to consider other factors such as sensitivity, specificity, and time efficiency of the detection to select the most suitable method for quantitative detection of Staphylococcus aureus.
