Abstract
The basic mechanical design course is designed to be a core course for mechanical engineering majors in colleges and universities. However, it still faces a variety of challenges in real-life teaching. This paper first analyses the problems encountered by the course in the current university environment, such as over-emphasis on theoretical education, lagging behind in the updating of textbook content, single teaching techniques, and lack of the application of modern technological tools. In order to address these problems, this study proposes a series of effective teaching strategies and explores how to better integrate technological aids to promote students' practical skills. In addition, the article explores how career planning and guidance can be integrated into teaching to help students become clearer about their future career paths. The aim of this article is to provide new thinking and strategies for teaching and learning the design of a basic mechanical design course to ensure that students are able to make better progress in their academic and professional careers.
