Abstract

Applying the concept of entropy to psychology can better explain psychological phenomena. Based on the whole view of systems thinking, a multidimensional analysis of the connotation of psychological entropy is carried out, and the conclusion is drawn that the degree of energy transformation, disorder, balance, certainty, and stability all reflect the dual functions of entropy, which can produce positive or negative effects. The neutral term "influence" is used to define psy-chological entropy, rather than "positive or negative effects". Psychological entropy refers to the measure of the extent of material, information, and energy inside and outside the psychological system on people's psychology and behavior, it only discusses the possibility of positive or negative impact, while the psychological negative entropy and positive entropy measure the size of the positive or negative effect value respectively. We use systematic thinking to clarify the enlightenment that psychological entropy gives us: although people cannot resist the spontaneous increase of entropy in nature, they can exert their subjective initiative in restraining desire, mining endogenous negative entropy, and being cautious of words and actions, to develop the influence of entropy in a positive direction as far as possible.
