The Application and Value of Chinese Folk Literature in Modern Education

Chinese folk literature encompasses myths, legends, folktales, scenic allusions, folk songs and ballads, dialect proverbs, and more. They have existed since we were born. The time of their creation is unknown, and there is no definite author. They naturally spread among the people. Chinese folk literature, as an important element of national culture and the embodiment of national psychological consciousness, has consistently demonstrated robust and dynamic vitality throughout its long historical development. It embodies timeless artistic charm and national cultural wisdom, exuding refreshing beauty and guiding human civilization towards the future. Chinese folk literature is a treasure within the vast collection of Chinese culture, with a rich historical background and deep cultural significance. With the development of modern education, an increasing number of scholars and educators are focusing on the application and value of folk literature in education. This article analyzes the definition, characteristics, and development process of Chinese folk literature. It also explores the application forms and practical cases of Chinese folk literature in modern education, and summarizes its educational value. The research shows that incorporating Chinese folk literature into modern education can enhance students' aesthetic sensibilities, cultural identity, and creative thinking abilities, and improve their overall and humanistic qualities.
