Abstract

The rise of digital technology has brought unprecedented opportunities and challenges to the field of education. From online education and distance learning to the application of technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and extended reality, digital empowerment is promoting new practices in China’s modernization of basic education. The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China clearly stated the new mission and task of education in promoting China’s modernization in an all-round way and provided the action plan for the digitalization of education. In the current situation, there is an urgent need for basic education to focus on implementing a digitalization strategy and transform towards education digitalization through innovative and engaging practices. This will  empower high-quality development in basic education. High-quality development in basic education is one of the main contents of building a high-quality education system, and education digitalization is the strategic support and driving engine for promoting high-quality development in basic education. Empowering basic education with digitalization is a strategic choice and a must-do path for the new era.
