The Body Concept of Classical Chinese Art

Abstract

The classical Chinese body view is an abstract description focusing on qi perception. Ancient Chinese painters commonly painted human figures based on this concept. Whether landscapes, flowers, birds, or close-ups of people, these painters paint metaphorical pictures of the same vistas. The Chinese view of body painting was reserved and inward-looking, which significantly impacted the creation of figures throughout the history of classical art. In this paper, we focus on the discourse of Chinese and Western art bodies and interpret the body view of Chinese classical art from micro and macro topics. According to the paper, the physical theory of Chinese classical art is related to the esthetic immersion of the Chinese culture. As a visual symbol, it has multiple cultural interpretations. The visual image of the "body" is a positive esthetic image in the cultural evolution of its time, and it is also a positive visual product of the interaction between the painter and the social culture. Thus, the physical view of classical Chinese art is an artistic concept about cultural tolerance and national characteristics, and the classification of this creative concept also provides a positive cultural interaction for global art history.
