Abstract

Current affairs buzzwords reflect the principles and policies at different stages of China’s social development, which are crucial for constructing China’s overseas discourse system and serving as witnesses to the country’s revolution, construction, and reform. Chinese current affairs buzzwords translation is crucial not only for foreign-oriented publicity research but also for China's national image construction and the effectiveness of cross-cultural communication. There are currently more than 8 billion people on the planet, speaking more than 5,000 different languages, and there are around 258 million people who speak Russian, including 153.6 million native speakers and 104.3 million people who speak it as a second language. This demonstrates how widely spoken Russian is over the world. In this regard, this study will examine the current situation of Russian translation of Chinese current affairs buzzwords, and investigate the relationship between such translations and the national image construction from the perspective of foreign-oriented publicity.
